Dear Parents,

It's been another great week! The students are diligent and thoughtful workers. We are enjoying working with them.

The students are decorating their reading bags. These bags will hold all their independent reading books at school. The books will be at their reading level and on topics they enjoy. Reading instruction this week centered on setting and characterization. Next week students will learn about conflict in a story and apply that to their survival novels. They will work on the plot summary too. Although students are working at school on their book box reports, work at home should be happening too. Some things students could focus on at home this weekend are wrapping and decoration the box, working on the scene he/she chooses to illustrate, putting the setting and/or characterization notes into paragraphs, and typing drafts (if your child is typing his/her report.)

Next week in math we will dive into factors. It is a fun and challenging topic. Keep encouraging your children to practice those math facts!

We will have spirit days next week leading up to Homecoming weekend. The themes for the days are...
Monday--pajama day
Tuesday--mix match day
Wednesday--jersey day
Thursday--hat day
Friday--red and blue day
On Friday we will attend a presentation by MVS's Distinguished Alum Ken Williford followed by the pep rally.

Enjoy the weekend with your awesome fourth grader!
